FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are glass floors expensive?
Are glass floors expensive?
Whilst the upfront cost of walk-on glass floors may seem significant, they offer clear benefits in terms of value and longevity, making them a worthwhile investment for home-owners and businesses alike.
What you’re paying for is more than just aesthetics. Yes, they add a real sense of luxury, making a space feel more open and expensive, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the value they bring. Unlike other flooring materials such as wood or carpet, glass flooring is designed to withstand years of use without showing signs of wear.
Are glass floors easy to clean?
Are glass floors easy to clean?
One of the main concerns people have when considering a glass floor is how easy it will be to maintain. The good news is that glass floors are relatively easy to clean compared to traditional flooring materials. Since glass is a non-porous material, it doesn’t trap dirt, dust or moisture, meaning it’s much less likely to stain or harbor any nasties.
You won’t need any fancy cleaning products either. To keep your glass floor sparkling, all you will need is a soft cloth with a mild glass cleaner. Just be sure to avoid harsh chemicals that can damage the surface.
Do glass floors break easily?
Do glass floors break easily?
In short: no, they don’t. It is a common misconception that walk on glass floors can break easily under significant weight or pressure. But in actual fact, they are designed to be incredibly strong and durable, making them as safe to walk on as concrete.
They are typically made from tempered or laminated glass, which is much stronger than regular glass and can withstand heavy foot traffic in busy areas as well as large units of furniture. Tempered glass is engineered to be up to four times stronger than standard glass because it is heat-treated to increase its strength and resistance to impact.
For further peace of mind, it is worth mentioning that our walk on glass flooring is constructed of 3 layers which are bonded together to create an incredibly strong barrier. If penetrated or put under extreme pressure, it will not completely crack! The worst case scenario is that only one layer will break, meaning that the floor will still keep its form and you will still be kept safe.
Can glass floors scratch?
Can glass floors scratch?
Yes, it’s possible for glass floors to scratch - just like anything else. However, they’re designed to be extremely durable and resistant to most common scratches. Walk on glass floors undergo rigorous testing to make sure they can handle daily wear and tear.
Most of the time, they’ll stay scratch-free unless something sharp, like metal or stone, drags across them. Even if this does happen, often, the damage is not irreversible; maintenance teams are well equipped to repair minor issues, should they occur.
Does a glass floor add value to your home?
