FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the lead time on bespoke glass rooflights?

Ten working days from order to dispatch. We manufacture everything in-house, so there's no waiting on third-party suppliers. If you've got a tight deadline, get in touch and we'll let you know what's realistic.

Is Frameless Glass Suitable For Outdoor Use?

Yes. Frameless glass rooflights are designed specifically for external applications and are built using toughened safety glass with sealed glazing units to handle exposure to the elements. They’re commonly installed on flat roofs, extensions and outdoor spaces where a clean, minimal finish is required. As long as the unit is correctly specified and installed, including proper weatherproofing and drainage, frameless glass performs reliably in outdoor conditions year-round.

Are your glass rooflights thermally efficient?

Yes. Our frameless rooflights come with double or triple glazing, argon-filled cavities and warm edge spacer bars. All of that's designed to minimise heat loss and keep condensation under control. The walk-on and switchable rooflights use a stepped insulated construction that handles thermal performance alongside structural strength. If you're not sure which spec suits your project, talk to us and we'll advise.

Can I walk on a glass rooflight?

On the walk-on and switchable models, yes. They're engineered specifically for it. Three layers of 10mm toughened glass laminated with EVA interlayer gives you a solid 33mm panel rated for foot traffic. Our standard frameless rooflights aren't built to be walked on though. If you need a walkable surface, the walk-on or switchable range is what you're after.

Do I need planning permission for a glass rooflight?

Usually not. Most rooflights on domestic properties fall under permitted development. But there are exceptions, especially with listed buildings, conservation areas, and installations that stick up significantly above the existing roof plane. We've put together a detailed guide on when rooflight planning permission is required so you can check before committing.
