How thick does a glass well cover need to be?

For most domestic applications, our 33mm laminated glass is the right choice. Three layers of 10mm toughened glass bonded with EVA interlayer. It's walk-on rated and handles residential foot traffic without issue. Larger openings or commercial installations with heavier loads might need something different. Contact us with your specifics and we'll advise on the appropriate thickness and construction.

Can glass well covers be used outdoors?

Absolutely. The toughened laminated construction handles weather exposure without problems, and we can apply anti-slip coatings for installations in areas that get wet regularly. The steel framework is powder-coated for corrosion resistance. If condensation or heat loss is a concern on your particular installation, our insulated glass well cover adds a thermal barrier that prevents moisture build-up on the underside.

Are your glass well covers safe to walk on?

Our walk on glass well covers are built with a 33mm laminated construction that is fully load-bearing. The toughened glass is designed to hold together under impact rather than break apart, providing a high level of safety. Each panel is supported by a structurally rated steel framework for added strength and stability.

Do you offer fire-rated glass well covers?

We do. Our 33mm glass well cover comes with fire-rated options including 30-minute or 60-minute integrity ratings, with or without insulation. Relevant for commercial properties and multi-occupancy buildings where fire compartmentation applies. Select your fire rating when you're configuring the order, or get in touch and we'll help you work out what your building needs.
