Yes. Frameless glass rooflights are designed specifically for external applications and are built using toughened safety glass with sealed glazing units to handle exposure to the elements. They’re commonly installed on flat roofs, extensions and outdoor spaces where a clean, minimal finish is required. As long as the unit is correctly specified and installed, including proper weatherproofing and drainage, frameless glass performs reliably in outdoor conditions year-round.
Yes. Our frameless rooflights come with double or triple glazing, argon-filled cavities and warm edge spacer bars. All of that's designed to minimise heat loss and keep condensation under control. The walk-on and switchable rooflights use a stepped insulated construction that handles thermal performance alongside structural strength. If you're not sure which spec suits your project, talk to us and we'll advise.
On the walk-on and switchable models, yes. They're engineered specifically for it. Three layers of 10mm toughened glass laminated with EVA interlayer gives you a solid 33mm panel rated for foot traffic. Our standard frameless rooflights aren't built to be walked on though. If you need a walkable surface, the walk-on or switchable range is what you're after.
Usually not. Most rooflights on domestic properties fall under permitted development. But there are exceptions, especially with listed buildings, conservation areas, and installations that stick up significantly above the existing roof plane.
