Glass Shelves Cut to Size

A glass shelf only works if it's the right thickness for the job, and 6mm is where nearly every domestic shelf lands. Floating shelves, alcove shelves, shelving inside a cabinet or display unit, a bathroom shelf above a sink, 6mm toughened glass covers all of it without the panel feeling heavy in the hand or looking clunky on the wall.

Every glass shelf here is cut to your exact size before it goes into the furnace. Toughened glass can't be cut once the toughening process is complete, so we need your finished dimensions upfront, not just for the panel itself but for anything it needs to fit. If your brackets require fixing holes, tell us the diameter, quantity and position for each one when you order, since they have to go in before toughening too. Only round holes are possible. Square or rectangular cut-outs create weak points that toughened glass can't tolerate.

Toughened glass is around five times stronger than standard float glass at the same thickness, and if it's ever struck hard enough to fail, it breaks into small blunt fragments rather than sharp shards. That matters on an open shelf, where the glass is exposed along every edge with nothing framing it. Every panel is polished around the edge before it leaves the workshop and carries the permanent BS EN 12150 safety stamp required by law, usually sitting unobtrusively in one corner.
